What used to be the thriving budget drinking lover's paradise full of numerous small bars, some barely big enough to fit 10 people, has now been turned into a war zone in the wake of development and progress. No more can you find Durty Nellie's, Hidden Tree, Minder, Huxley's and other classic Beijing hangouts.
